Monitoring of residual chlorine and pH levels should form part of the daily maintenance plan for swimming pools. Recommended residual chlorine level between 1 and 3 mg/L in treated recreational waters such as swimming pools, spas, and hot tubs. For effective disinfection, the pH of these waters should be between 7.2 and 7.8.
Observe marine wildlife (such as coral reefs) without impact, making sure that they view wildlife from a safe distance and do not rest or stand on corals and other fragile marine life
Prohibited waste dumping into the sea in order to preserve coral reefs and marine creatures
Promoting responsible recreation activities and excursions and supporting local biodiversity conservation efforts.
Provide advice on safety issues to consider when diving and ensure that safety considerations are strictly applied in relation to conditions of equipment and diving requirements
Raising guest awareness on birds & biodiversity of the flyway
Regularly check (e.g. annually) with local authorities and associations for species added to CITES lists and national legislation controlling or banning trade in threatened species. (Support can be provided by Red Sea Protectorates)
Review existing sea water quality standards, testing, and enforcement
Set a hotel biodiversity conservation policy. Appoint a senior manager and/or ‘green team’ to take responsibility for hotel biodiversity actions
Staff development and training
Train workers: Provide written instructions and safe work procedures. Supervise workers to ensure that they are using their training
